I'm so not a model, but it's fun pretending!
A couple months ago, while helping a friend with a make-up tutorial..the photographer told me that I was very photogenic and should consider doing some modeling work from time to time. I took it as a polite compliment, as I don't consider myself being anywhere near what a "normal" is.
This is the photo from the shoot.... I adore and will always cherish it!
Fast forward to recently, on a total fluke (while applying for other jobs, my ADD kicked in, and I got side tracked) I applied to a "petite" modeling agency and was shocked when I got an answer back right away stating that she really liked my "look" and wanted to set up an in-person interview. I went to the interview, still not comfortable with someone staring at me and complimenting me several times through out an interview, saying I would be a perfect fit to the agency.
A tad deterred from having to have some money upfront to get started with them, and even more money for a portfolio made with their photographer, that would be the cost of a new pair of Louboutins (which is how I count large sums of money) I decided to come back to Rochester and with the help of my make-up artist friend Katie, and local aspiring photographers...I would slowly build a portfolio and then from there decide if this is something that I want to do. If so, I will then pay the smaller fee for a profile on Perfectly Petite, Inc's website and go on the auditions and jobs that they find for me, using my own portfolio.
For now...I'm having a blast!! I love photography and have been told since I can remember that I'm photogenic. I admit, I am a total ham in front of any camera, and always ready for a pose with friends. Photography to me is one of the ultimate ways to express yourself without saying a word. I've always been an artistic person, and for me (although my camera is my iphone) it gives me such great way to express myself, explain to others who I am, and I keep these pictures as my own diary of sorts! I love to go back and look at pictures from a certain time and reminisce.
So, I will chronicle my modeling journey here. Starting with a broke girl that loves pictures and fashion, building my portfolio slowly, and maybe just maybe deciding to go forward and fork over my Louboutin fund and see where it goes. If I decide that it's not for me, well then I have some great entries for my "diary!"
At the end of the day, I'm just a real girl that will always continue to pose for the camera no matter what others think.
